Friends of Jockey’s Ridge Launch Specialty License Plate Campaign

Enjoy the beauty of a Jockey’s Ridge sunset every day with the new Friends of Jockey’s Ridge license plate! The Friends of Jockey’s Ridge, the nonprofit fundraising partner for Jockey’s Ridge State Park, have launched a campaign to develop a specialty license plate to help continue to preserve and protect the treasure that is Jockey’s Ridge State Park.

Apply for your Friends of Jockey’s Ridge specialty plate today and be among the first in the state to take the breathtaking Jockey’s Ridge Sunset with you wherever the road may lead. The new Friends of Jockey’s Ridge license plate designed by BN Design & Advertising in Kill Devil Hills, NC will feature a stunning dune and sunset image by long time Outer Banks and nature photographer, Ray Matthews, and the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge logo.

Applications and detailed program information are available on the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge Website at https://www.friendsofjockeysridge.org/licenseplate and at upcoming events including the NC Star Party on April 21, 2023 at Dowdy Park and the reopening of the Jockey’s Ridge State Park Visitor Center on May 25, 2023. The Friends of Jockey’s Ridge specialty plate costs $30 annually in addition to standard registration fees. Of this, $20 is forwarded to the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge and $10 remains with the DMV for program administration. Personalized plates are available for an additional fee. Help Friends of Jockey’s Ridge obtain 500 complete applications by December 31, 2023 to support Jockey’s Ridge.

The Friends of Jockey’s Ridge is a nonprofit organization established in 1990 for the support and maintenance of programs and the development of facilities of Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Friends of Jockey’s Ridge helps provide support and funding for educational programs and events at the park year round.
