Friends of Jockey’s Ridge is a nonprofit organization established in 1990 to support, enhance and promote Jockey’s Ridge State Park as a significant geologic feature (friendsofjockeysridge.org).

Friends of Jockey’s Ridge with Outer Banks Sporting Events invite participants to run or walk 2 miles on Jockey’s Ridge, the tallest natural sand dune system in the eastern US on July 4th of each year.
