Friends of Jockey’s Ridge announces new Executive Director!

Robin Hallac has been selected as the new Executive Director for Friends of Jockey’s Ridge.  She is a resident of Kill Devil Hills and will be taking over the role of Executive Director currently held by Interim Executive Director Jeanne Brook.

In her new position, Hallac has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge as well as execution of its mission. Her responsibilities include management of administrative processes and serving with the board of directors as a liaison with the staff of Jockey’s Ridge State Park, general public, and interested businesses and organizations. She will be a key leader in coordinating volunteer recruitment, planning special events, and fundraising.

“As the executive director for Friends of Jockey’s Ridge, part of my work will be to encourage board members and volunteers alike to focus on our mission — which is to support, enhance and promote Jockey’s Ridge State Park as a significant geologic feature of the Outer Banks, North Carolina,” Hallac said.

Jeanne Brook, serving as interim executive director since mid-summer, has provided continuity for the group during the search and has worked with Hallac during the transition. “We are very excited to have hired Robin as the Executive Director. There is great potential here to provide support to the park in the way of programs, and to share the unique aspects of this park with more people. She brings great experience and a wonderful personality to the position,” says Brook.
