Visitor Center Ribbon Cutting

We will gather for remarks from park supporters, park staff and state officials that helped bring this project to fruition for the people of North Carolina and our visitors at one of our most visited and unique state parks.

Date: Thursday, May 25, 2023
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Location: 300 W. Carolista Drive, Nags Head, N.C. 27959

The visitor center boasts an additional 1,000 square feet of space and includes community, meeting, and exhibit space as well as retail and office space. State-of-the-art, engaging exhibits teach visitors about dune formation, maritime forests, estuaries, recreation on the dunes, barrier islands and the wildlife in the area. The fully accessible facility now offers EV chargers in the parking area.

Funded by the Connect N.C. Bond with supplemental funding from the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund, the $2,048,463 visitor center renovations began in June 2021 and were completed in April 2023.
